Be still and know ...

I love going to the beach in the spring. I mean summer is great too; abundant sunshine, splashing, wading in the water. Spring is different though. Its still. Calm. And unlike its neighboring season, theres no hustle and haste finding a parking spot or passive aggressive beach goers claiming there area in the sand. (And speaking of, I’m actually the only one nestled up on the Laguna shores as I write this). No, a spring beach day is most definitely different. Its quiet and loud; magnificent yet so simple. And when I look into the ocean and see that no matter which way the wind blows the waves still crash towards the shore, I am reminded that nothing is coincidence, everything has a purpose and that He made everything with the intent of it being good. And as I sit back and marvel at His greatness, I’m reminded that Im apart of that. From a breeze to a current and a wave to the shore, I recognize that with every imperfection, I am as complex and beautiful as the ocean. And with that Im instantly filled with peace.

A peace that comes from the joy of the Lord and all His sacrifices. A peace that is with me everywhere (through difficult, busy and unfavorable times) but is most easily felt when I can sit quiet and still and remember that God is exactly who He says He is. Its not the wind that hits my cheek or the tiny grains of sand in between my toes. Its Christ! In me, through me and all around me. Sometimes we get so caught up in the world we forget how big our God is and all the blessings that come with trusting and belonging to Him. Its in those instances that we need to go outside or somewhere quiet, and spend quality time with the one who made us.

Be still and choose God.
